Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT) Mahabubnagar was established as a university in Telangana, India in May 2025. The then AP Government created RGUKT by an act of the Legislature to provide high quality technical education to rural youth.
Initially, three residential campuses were established at Basar, Nuzvid, and R K Valley (Idupulapai–Kadapa). The first batch of about 6,000 students joined the six-year integrated program in August 2008.
After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2015, RGUKT Basar and Mahabubnagar emerged as the two RGUKT campuses in the state of Telangana.
Mahabubnagar is located in the southern region of Telangana and is an important educational center. The RGUKT Mahabubnagar campus is situated in a peaceful academic environment. The campus is well connected by road and rail.
